Is your sunscreen cruelty free? Don't be fooled!
When we refer to the term "cruelty free sunscreen", we mean products that are not tested on animals. For those of you who do not know what the term "Cruelty Free" refers to, it is the concept used to describe products that neither have components of animal origin nor have been tested on animals, both the final product and some of its components.
Cruelty free sunscreen: stop testing on animals
Since March 11, 2013, the import and sale of cosmetic products tested on animals has been prohibited throughout the European Union.
Any new cosmetic product (toiletries, creams, soaps, make-up, dental hygiene, sunscreens...) that a company wishes to offer for sale in the European Union must not have been tested on animals anywhere in the world.
This step sets a great example for the rest of the world to support cruelty-free beauty, especially for countries like China, where such testing is required by law.
Cosmetics without animal components
It would be a real contradiction if the same cosmetic product, free of animal experimentation, incorporated in its formulation (INCI) components of animal origin, wouldn't it? The truth is that not all cosmetic products follow this recommendation.
The fact that a cosmetic product is organic, ecological or natural does NOT guarantee that it does not contain ingredients of animal origin. Truly VEGAN cosmetics is the only one that excludes all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals.
PETA and its list of ingredients of animal origin
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the world's largest animal rights organization, with more than 5 million members and supporters. This organization establishes a comprehensive list of animal ingredients currently used in the world of cosmetics. You can access it by clicking here.
Animal cruelty-free culture
Despite the current insistence by some cosmetic companies to make use of animal-derived ingredients, there are now products on the market that are completely free of experimentation and cruelty.
This is the case with SAFE SEA sunscreen. Accredited exclusively by the non-governmental association Friend Of The Sea as environmentally friendly. From the SAFE SEA cosmetic laboratory we advocate for the protection of the environment. We do NOT test on animals nor do we use animal ingredients in our products.
