Guide to an eco-friendly lifestyle
What does the term eco friendly mean? Literally, it symbolizes something respectful with the environment, being "ecology friendly". Today we give you the keys to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle, both inside and outside the home. Our goal: to generate sustainable situations and spaces that generate benefits for the planet, and for ourselves.
Guide to an eco-friendly lifestyle
Keys to a sustainable home
We spend many hours at home, so achieving a more sustainable home is one of the keys to achieving an eco-friendly lifestyle. There are numerous practices that can help us to improve the responsible consumption of energy and waste, such as, for example:
- Harnessing sunlight: there are several ways to make the most of sunlight. The first, and most efficient, is the installation of solar panels, since it allows us to accumulate energy or recycled water. In addition - also thinking of those who cannot opt for this resource - we can resort to other techniques, such as avoiding the use of light bulbs during the day, and if possible, make sure they are of low consumption, a trick! As you probably already know, light colors help to give luminosity. So, a decoration with furniture and walls in light tones will also help you to maintain that feeling of natural light during the last hours of the day.
- Use of class A++ appliances: Did you know that they consume up to 80% less than class F appliances? To understand this classification, it is necessary to pay attention to the consumption labels, on which there is a list of 7 letters (from A to G) and 7 colors (from green to red). The letter A and the color green are the indicators of maximum efficiency.
- Use of eco building and decoration materials: stone, wood, cork, are insulating materials widely used today in our homes. They allow us to be protected, and at the same time, they do not harm the environment (natural fibers and any natural fabric are closely linked to eco-consciousness).
- Recovering old furniture: let's get creative, to transform and give a second life to the furniture, in a smart way.
- Purify and revitalize the air with plants: they have a magical power for our health. Their leaves have the ability to absorb various chemical pollutants, which are then transported to the roots, and become a source of energy for the plant.
Keys to achieving an eco-friendly lifestyle
An eco-friendly lifestyle means living a slow life: without rushing, and without abusing the use of technology. In short, it is about leading a day to day life according to our way of thinking and our home. It is betting on the use of responsible and ecological products and services.
With this concept in mind, we list some techniques - simple and very practical - to achieve a more eco-friendly lifestyle:
- Avoid excessive use of electronic and technological devices.
- When cooking on weekends, do so without rushing. It is advisable to use a pressure cooker rather than the oven to save energy.
- Don't leave appliances on "standby". Turn them off completely when you are not there or during the night, so that they do not waste even a little bit.
- Replace disposable bags and use a cloth or sturdy shopping bag. You'll get a durable product that you can reuse for years to come.
Small actions can generate big changes. As the United Nations Environment Program(UNEP) points out, in recent decades, human beings have abused available resources, contributed to reducing them, and have favored environmental degradation and the development of water, air and land pollution. It is time to curb our bad habits. It is up to us to learn how to be efficient with our natural resources and/or to use energy responsibly.
