Vitamin E: your best friend this summer

Vitamin E: your best friend this summer

What is Vitamin E?

Vitamin E (also known as tocopherol or tocotrienol) is one of the most popular vitamins in cosmetic treatments. It is a naturally occurring antioxidant that helps the skin to prevent the signs of premature aging.

Benefits and properties

  • Powerful antioxidant against free radicals. In addition to preventing the visible signs of aging, it protects the skin against external agents.
  • Helps soothe dehydrated and sensitive skin. Vitamin E provides a soothing action on skin prone to inflammation and also helps soothe the symptoms of irritation. This makes it a great ally for sensitive skin.
  • Great protective power and healing properties. According to scientific studies, the application of vitamin E helps to repair and improve the appearance of damaged tissue (such as acne marks), also helping the skin to heal in optimal conditions.
  • Reinforces sun protection: although by itself, it is not a sunscreen, studies show that applying vitamin E to our skin will make it more prepared against the harmful effects of the sun.
  • Combats wrinkles. Vitamin E also acts on wrinkles and expression lines by stimulating the creation of new skin cells and cell regeneration.
  • It lightens dark spots on the skin, especially if it acts together with Vitamin C with which it has a synergistic effect. In addition, both vitamins together reinforce its antioxidant effect.
  • Great ally of dry skin. Moisturizes and softens the skin.

Vitamin E and B: the perfect antioxidant couple

Vitamins E and B are biological antioxidant filters that prevent the formation of free radicals.

Due to UV radiation, pollution and other conditions, oxidation generates unstable derivatives of oxygen atoms, known as ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species) or free radicals, in the skin cells.

Seeking stability, the radical oxygen steals electrons from neighboring atoms, which causes these atoms to seek new electron partners as well.

Over time, a domino effect is generated, initiating a chain reaction that leads the skin cells into an unstable state. As the reaction continues, the ROS destroy the cell membranes, putting the body under stress.

Vitamins B and E (antioxidants) can block oxidative stress by giving up electrons to stabilize free radicals.

All SAFE SEA sunscreen references contain VITAMINS B and E in their formulation. Thus providing the multiple benefits for the human organism mentioned above.
